Two Family-Fun Fall Festivals to Celebrate Autumn in Blaine!

This fall, Blaine by the Sea is welcoming everyone to come and celebrate the changing of seasons with festivals full of family fun. Enjoy traditional Oktoberfest fun at Gateway 1890 Taphouse’s “Gate-Oberfest” on September 24 and Blaine Oyster Fest celebrating Drayton Harbor Oyster Co, a feast of the sea on October 8. Both are packed with family fun, jamming to live music, games, several arts, retail vendors, and so much more!

Whether you’re looking to enjoy some traditional Oktoberfest fun or celebrate the autumn bounty of the sea, Blaine by the Sea has a Fall festival for you!

GATE-OberFest - September 24, 2022

It’s harvest time, and Gateway 1890 Taphouse & Grill is ushering in autumn with GATE-Oberfest, a day-long traditional Oktoberfest celebration. This family-friendly event will feature a Night Market, Face Painting, Cornhole games, Live Music, and Oktoberfest menu items with select beers on tap! Enjoy German Oktoberfest competitions of Pretzel Eating, Keg Rolling, Stein Relays, and more! Enjoy a traditional ole German Oktoberfest party in Blaine by the Sea! Drink and food offerings from noon to 10 PM, with Oktoberfest-style food and beers!

Blaine Oyster Fest - October 8, 2022

Blaine’s inaugural Oyster Fest is Saturday, October 8th, and will be a day-long celebration of all things oysters! The festival is a great opportunity for the community to learn more about the importance of oysters in our ecosystem. Taste some amazing dishes made with fresh local oysters from Drayton Harbor Oyster Co’s deep-cupped, delectable, fresh oysters grown less than a mile from their store. Consider this a block party celebrating autumn and the bounty of the sea! This is a can’t-miss fall celebration!

Day-long festivities include:

  • Street Fair with 30+ Vendors
  • Oyster Cook-off with Blaine restaurants
  • Shucking & Slurping Contests
  • Oyster Farm Tours
  • Plover Ferry Rides – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Semiahmoo Resort Live Cooking Demos with FREE SAMPLES of locally-sourced farm-to-table dishes
  • Judging Contests
  • Family-fun activities & Giveaways
  • Live Music Entertainment all day:
    – Kickerville Band – H St. Plaza 1-4 p.m.
    – Alex Britton Band – G St. Plaza 1-4 p.m.
    – jamming to Latin & African grooves by Bilongo with Sabrina Gomez – H St. Plaza 5-7 p.m.

Oyster lovers rejoice! The Oyster Fest Cookoff is coming to Blaine, and seven local restaurants are ready to compete for Best Tasting Oyster. For just $2 per tasting, you can sample each restaurant’s creation and cast your vote. Then, watch as the winners are announced in four categories: Best Tasting Oyster, Best Oyster Presentation, The Citizens Award, and the Professional Award. Don’t miss this delicious event – purchase your tickets at Drayton Harbor Oyster Company on H Street Plaza in downtown Blaine.

This Saturday, October 8th, downtown Blaine will be hopping with family-fun activities! Make sure to stop by Drayton Harbor Oyster Company on H Street Plaza to pick up your Oyster Festival Passport and Ballot. Cast your vote for “BEST TASTING” and “BEST LOOKING” Oysters and enjoy tasting tickets to the seven participating restaurants. Don’t miss out on all the fun – get your passport and purchase:
• Tasting Tickets to the seven participating restaurants
• Bracelets for “all-you-can-eat Raw Oyster Bar.”
• Drink tickets for $6 per beer or wine glass
Drayton Harbor Oyster Co. will have a limited menu with $2 for cooked and raw oysters* and $4 for their homemade oyster stew.

Name the giant behemoth Oyster at Blaine's Oyster Fest!

The Blaine Oyster Fest is tomorrow, Saturday, October 8, and one of the main attractions this year are sure to be the giant oyster from the waters of Drayton Harbor. This monster mollusk measures 16″, so it’s not one to miss! In honor of this ginormous bivalve, Drayton Harbor Oyster Company is hosting a naming contest. To participate, register your name at Drayton Harbor Oyster Company on H Street Plaza during the festival. A award will be given, so come on and help name this behemoth bivalve! Festival attendees can also enjoy live music, beer/wine gardens, oyster cook-offs, cooking demos, and a street fair while they’re there. See you at the fest, and make sure you come hungry!
